The Internship Scheme on Modern Logistics (“Internship Scheme”) is an initiative subsidised by the Maritime and Aviation Training Fund (MATF).
The objective of the Internship Scheme is to provide sponsorship for logistics companies to offer internship placements to full time students, so as to enable them to better appreciate the development prospects of and the career opportunities in the field of modern logistics and supply chain management, with a view to encouraging them to join the logistics industry after graduation.
Eligibility
The Internship Scheme is open to logistics companies and students with the following eligibility criteria:
Participating companies: any sizable company in the modern logistics sector with a valid business registration in Hong Kong which provides modern logistics services including high value-added services.
Interns: Hong Kong residents who are lawfully employable in Hong Kong, and currently* –
(i) full-time local students (including students who are in the final year of their study) undertaking undergraduate or sub-degree or diploma programmes in any tertiary or training institutions in Hong Kong ; or
(ii) full-time students (including students who are in the final year of their study) undertaking undergraduate or sub-degree or diploma programmes in any tertiary or training institutions outside Hong Kong; and
(iii) not beneficiaries under any publicly-funded internship programmes.
* Excluding students currently undertaking postgraduate programmes.
Partnership Arrangement
Government’s support
To reimburse participating companies up to 75% of each intern’s monthly honorarium (capped at HK$7,500 per intern per month) for a maximum period of three months.
Applications are accepted throughout the year.
Company’s role
To register and offer intern positions under the MATF throughout the year for a minimum of 4 weeks (i.e. 28 days);
To pay the monthly honorarium to the interns during the internship period, and then claim reimbursement from the MATF for the sum sponsored by the Government, together with evaluations of the Internship Scheme by the companies and the interns, after the completion of the internship; and
To give a fruitful and rewarding experience to the interns.
For Companies
The Transport and Logistics Bureau will confirm with the companies the respective number of intern positions registered under the Internship Scheme upon receipt of the registration forms. Please note that companies are free to select suitable interns and are encouraged to fill all the registered intern positions as far as possible.
Each intern will only be sponsored once by the MATF for working in the same participating company.

For Students
Please refer to the information on intern positions provided under the Internship Scheme as posted on the website of the MATF and the relevant post-secondary education institutions in Hong Kong. Participating students are required to submit the applications direct to the recruiting companies.
Upon completion of the internship, each student has to submit an evaluation form to the MATF via the recruiting companies.
