Ship Repair Training Incentive Scheme (SRTIS)

Graduated in 2006 or later Basic Craft Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Experienced workers from other industries or workers who possess relevant skills have to complete a designated ship repair re-training programme of not longer than one month, and to be employed by a local shipyard as skilled workers in the ship repair industry. Successful applicants will be eligible to a financial incentive of HK$4,000 per month for not more than 12 months during a continuous employment.

Diploma in Vocational Education (Electrical Engineering) - Electrical Engineering Stream
Award of Basic Craft Certificate (BCC), Technician Foundation Certificate (TFC) or Diploma in Vocational Education (DVE) under the programme of Diploma in Vocational Education (Electrical Engineering) - Electrical Engineering Stream
Completed in 2014 or later Successfully completed all the practical training modules of Year-1 Full-time Study of *Diploma in Vocational Education (Mechanical Engineering) - Mechanical Engineering Stream or Welding Technology & Inspection Specialization Stream or *Diploma in Vocational Education (Electrical Engineering) - Electrical Engineering Stream *Renamed to Diploma of Vocational Education in 2016

Remark: At present, the designated courses are offered by the Vocational Education Council, as shown in the table above.
After completing any of the designated courses, a student must join the ship repair industry by entering into an apprenticeship contract with a local shipyard to receive on-the-job ship repair training.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must − Application from a final year student of the designated course may also be considered if he/she has been offered a recognised apprenticeship by a local shipyard at the time of application
