Professional Training and Examination Refund Scheme (Aviation)

Introduction

To incentivise those interested to join, as well as already working in, the aviation sector to attend course(s) and sit for examinations(s) that are being offered by various education institutions, professional or trade bodies to enhance their skills and obtain professional qualifications, the Government has launched the Professional Training and Examination Refund Scheme under MATF to enhance its support for manpower training of the maritime and aviation industries. With effect from 1 April 2021, each successful applicant will be refunded 80% of their fees, subject to a maximum of HK$30,000 (whichever is less)Note for the pre-approved course/examination. Apart from in-service practitioners, those who newly enter the industry after completion of through completing the training courses / passing the examinations are also eligible for making the refund application for the fees for the pre-approved courses completed / pre-approved examinations passed. Applications must be made by individuals. Applications from company/organisation will not be accepted.

Note: The subsidy ceiling of $30,000 is applicable on an ad personam basis. Insofar as applications submitted before 1 April 2021 are concerned, MATF will process these reimbursement claim applications in accordance with the requirements stipulated before 1 April 2021 (i.e. 80% of the course/examination fees and subsidy ceiling of HK$18,000).

Please submit the application within 4 months after completing the course(s) / passing the examination(s).

Application Procedures

Applicants should complete and submit the (i) the original of the application form and (ii) copies of the required documents by post to the MATF Secretariat, Transport and Logistics Bureau at 20/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Hong Kong; or by email to matf@tlb.gov.hk. For effective and timely delivery of the mail items, please ensure sufficient postage before posting. Late applications will not be accepted.

For Course Providers/ Examination Authorities

Course providers/examination authorities can complete the application form and send it together with a copy of the required documents to matf@tlb.gov.hk to apply for their courses / examinations to be put on the list of pre-approved courses / examinations under ProTERS. Please make reference to the Explanatory Notes on Assessment Criteria when preparing an application.

Should there be any change(s) to the information in the list of pre-approved aviation-related courses/examinations, please inform us by e-mail in advance. Otherwise, the processing time for reimbursing the fee to students may be affected.

A series of enhancement measures for ProTERS (Aviation) have been in place since June 2022. Please refer to the “Enhancement Measures under the ProTERS (Aviation)” below for details.
