The Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mr Lam Sai-hung, attended a meeting of the Joint Works Committee (JWC) of the Three Governments on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) in Zhuhai today (March 12) and inspected the transport and logistics facilities in Macao. The Commissioner for Transport, Ms Angela Lee, also joined the visit.

Mr Lam arrived in Zhuhai in the morning to attend the 34th meeting of the JWC to review and discuss various works of the HZMB. After the meeting, Mr Lam proceeded to Macao via Hengqin. He inspected the fourth Macao-Taipa bridge, the Macao Light Rapid Transit and the Traffic Control and Information Center of the Macao Transport Bureau to understand the local infrastructure and transport management. In the evening, Mr Lam inspected the cross-boundary logistics transfer facility at the HZMB Macao Port and learned about its operational procedures.

Mr Lam said that both the passenger and vehicular flows of the HZMB rose remarkably last year. To fully realise the mission of better leveraging the HZMB, he held high hopes that the authorities of the three cities will continue to enhance the port efficiency and further strengthen the flow of people as well as the economic and trade exchanges among the three places, with a view to improving the connectivity in transport and logistics among cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Mr Lam concluded his visit and returned to Hong Kong via the HZMB at night.
