At present, the designated courses offered by VTC are as follows: Basic Craft Certificate in Welding and Fabrication (2006 graduates or after) Basic Craft Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (2007 graduates or after) Certificate of Basic Craft Studies in Mechanical Engineering (2016 graduates or after) Technician Foundation Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (2007 graduates or after) Certificate of Technician Foundation Studies in Mechanical Engineering (2016 graduates or after) Basic Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering (2008 graduates or after) Certificate of Basic Craft Studies in Electrical Engineering (2016 graduates or after) Technician Foundation Certificate in Electrical Engineering (2008 graduates or after) Certificate of Technician Foundation Studies in Electrical Engineering (2016 graduates or after) Diploma in Vocational Education Programme - Mechanical Engineering Stream (Mechanical Engineering or Welding Technology & Inspection Specialization) / Electrical Engineering Stream (2010 graduates or after) Diploma of Vocational Education Programme - Mechanical Engineering Stream (Mechanical Engineering or Welding Technology & Inspection Specialization) / Electrical Engineering Stream (2016 graduates or after) Award of Basic Craft Certificate (BCC), Technician Foundation Certificate (TFC) or Diploma in Vocational Education (DVE) under Diploma in Vocational Education Programme (Electrical Stream) / Electrical Engineering Stream (2010 graduates or after) Award of Certificate of Basic Craft Studies (BCC), Certificate of Technician Foundation Studies (TFC) or Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) under Diploma of Vocational Education Programme (Electrical Stream) / Electrical Engineering Stream (2016 graduates or after) Certificate of Vocational Education Programme - Mechanical Engineering Stream / Electrical Engineering Stream (2016 graduates or after) Successfully completed all the practical training modules of Year-1 Full-time Study of *Diploma in Vocational Education (Mechanical Engineering Stream-Mechanical Engineering or Welding Technology & Inspection Specialization / Electrical Engineering Stream) (2014 graduates or after) *Renamed to Diploma of Vocational Education in 2016 After completion of one of the above courses, a student has to join the ship repair industry by entering into an apprenticeship contract with a local shipyard and receive on-the-job ship repair training. |
Experienced workers from other industries or workers who possess relevant skills have to complete a designated ship repair re−training programme of not longer than one month, and to be employed by a local shipyard as skilled workers in the ship repair industry. Successful applicants will be eligible to a financial incentive of HK$4,000 per month for not more than 12 months during a continuous employment. |
